Yinson Production Enhances ICT Education in Western Region

Yinson Production West Africa Limited has demonstrated its commitment to education in Ghana by commissioning a fully furnished computer laboratory in the Arthur Fischer Catholic Basic School in Apowa, Ahanta West Municipality. The laboratory, equipped with 30 desktop computers and accessories, a server, printer, a projector, and a remote-controlled automated electric projector screen, will benefit more than 3,000 students in the area.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of Yinson Production, Mr Edward Mensah, highlighted the importance of ICT skills in modern society, and how they enable students to do well in their studies and be prepared for the working world. The company has also made other significant contributions to education in the Western Region, including constructing a dormitory block in Nkroful Secondary, establishing a welding centre at the Takoradi Technical Institute, and building library blocks in the area.

The computer laboratory in the Arthur Fischer Catholic Basic School is the second provided by Yinson Production in the Ahanta Municipality, following the first ICT centre commissioned in 2020 at the Kejabil Municipal Basic and Junior high. In addition, the company holds bi-monthly ICT classes for 14 teachers in the area.

The Ahanta West Municipal Chief Executive, Mr George Effah, expressed his gratitude to Yinson Production for enhancing ICT education for the youth in the district. He emphasized the importance of ICT skills in the education system and their role in promoting the holistic cognitive abilities of the youth.

For the most part, the facility has brought relief to academic work in the catchment area, and Mr Effah encouraged the school to take good care of the laboratory to ensure its durability.

Yinson Production’s Managing Director in Ghana, Naa Opoku Agyeman, reiterated the company’s commitment to education, stating that it is a fundamental tool for human development and a strong priority for its Corporate Social Investment in the area. She emphasized the importance of equipping young people with modern and technological tools to become more resourceful in the future.
